Get your game face on and your walking shoes… This one may turn out to be a little work but you’re gonna get a return this time…and just in time to be Thankful!
Kris and I will be starting at the Gin Mill early, about 11 am to watch some college football (the majority of our bars on this crawl will have TV and we hope the Ohio St. vs. Michigan game @ 3:30 for those interested in this game). Feel free to join us at the Mill first, however, the first official bar on our crawl will be Prohibition (Bar #2 on the map – They open at 3 pm so it’s fine to be a tad late).
This will be our first fund raiser crawl. A portion of the costs you put in will go to a yet undetermined charity for Thanksgiving. Here are the rules of the Poker Crawl (unfortunately all bars were not available for return calls to get approval so we’re doing this one solo and will look to the next round of play to get better organized):
- The object of the poker crawl is to collect playing cards as you drink pints and at the end of the crawl session, you will pool your cards to create the best poker hand. The top two crawlers with the best poker hands at the last bar will receive a percentage of the total money collected as your winnings.
- The cost for the crawl will be $10 per participant, collected by the organizers (Austin or Kris) at the start of the crawl (or which ever bar you show up at first but we encourage the earlier the better).
- You’ll receive a wrist band to designate you’ve paid and are participating.
- For every pint of beer drunk (finished) during the crawl you will receive a playing card. Shots, non-alcoholic drinks and mixed drinks will not count (Ladies, if you have an aversion to beer and would prefer mixed cocktails, were fine with this as long as you approve the choice at the start of your crawl).
- There will be a limit of 2 playing cards handed out at each bar per person. This is to deter anyone from showing up near the end and trying to take down a six pack at each bar to “catch up”.
- Each card will be signed with your name when handed to you. This is to deter sharing of cards between friends to create the best hand.
- The organizers are disqualified from participating in the crawl but do encourage patrons to purchase drinks for them 😉
- Payout: 75% of the crawl money will be donated to a charity yet undetermined (suggestions are encouraged, email them to us or let us know the day of the event). 15% will go to the winner of the Poker crawl and 10% will go to the runner up.
- Crawlers must be present at the last bar to win – Dive 75 (we will not be giving out cards at the last bar, so the 2nd to last bar on the crawl is your last chance to pick up that Jack of hearts you need for a straight flush or what ever)
- Please encourage as many of your friends to join us. Not only will this increase the amount of money we donate, but it will increase the size of the pot that could be won at the end.
